Predicting tumor treatment outcomes through genetic variability prediction of tumor cells

Researchers from Ohio state university have come out with a new scoring method they developed called MATH (mutant-allele tumor heterogeneity) to measure the genetic variability among cancer cells. Patients with higher genetic variability of cancer cells depicts lower survival rate upon treatment than those with lower genetic variability. Higher variability points out to the fact that cancer cells are adapted to a particular chemotherapy and might out give the expected results. Using MATH scores doctors could easily predict cancer progression and cancer treatment outcomes.
