Obesity has become an important medical condition as it facilitates other fatal health issue. Almost 58% of total UK population suffers from obesity and its complications. Scientists from university of British Columbia have studied the 14-3-3 family of proteins which are reported in abundant quantity in fat tissue of obese patients. Genes specific for these proteins have been studied in mice. Upon successful silencing of these genes resulted in decreasing the soft fatty tissues in mice. This study gives way to new drugs that could be targeted specifically against these genes and treat obesity easily.
